Our in-house polysilicon manufacturing subsidiary, Fine Silicon, commenced trial production in December 2009. Designed for an annual production capacity of 3,000 MT, this Baoding-based factory is a state-of-the-art facility for advanced monosilane-based polysilicon manufacturing.

Fine Silicon produces high-quality solar-grade and electronic-grade polysilicon through an energy-efficient and environmentally sound manufacturing process. Unlike the traditional trichlorosilane (TCS)-based polysilicon technology, Fine Silicon’s approach eliminates the use of any chlorides, TCS, and its only by-products, sulphate, is useful as raw materials in the chemical industry, thereby saving power and minimizing the environmental impact.

We use specialized technology and state-of-the-art equipment to produce high-quality ingots and wafers. We cast ingots with furnaces and use wiresaws to cut through the silicon ingots and bricks. All of our equipment comes from the world’s leading suppliers.

Our vertical integration approach connects the wafer line directly to the cell line after ultrasonic cleaning, simplifying the handling process, reducing breakage, and lowering overall costs.

Our polycrystalline solar cells have an average efficiency rate of over 16%. As a result of our cutting-edge methods, highly automated production, and stringent quality control, we are able to provide the high quality solar cell.

Our research team has made technological breakthroughs in surface reflection, diffusion uniformity, sheet resistance optimization, and contact resistance reduction. As a result, the electrical performance of our solar cells has been steadily improved.

PV modules are assembled by first forming a circuit of solar cells connected to one another with conductive copper ribbon in a series of soldering steps, and then laminating that circuit in a sandwich of materials including glass, encapsulant, and a weather-proof backsheet.

Assembled modules are secured by an anodized aluminum frame that has been successfully tested to loads up to and including 5400Pa. A junction box with cables and connectors is added to enable the end user to quickly and confidently wire the electrical installation. Our modules are independently tested to verify their electrical product specifications and to ensure that they comply with all applicable safety requirements specific to the regions into which they are deployed.

Our factory in Baoding was the first commercial-scale operation in China to fully automate the soldering of solar cells, using a process commonly referred to as “stringing.” Yingli was also the first solar power company to fully incorporate electroluminescence testing into the production process. These competitive advantages help us to tightly control quality and deliver exceptionally reliable products to our customers.

Technology

We believe that technological innovation is essential to our position as a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, and key to both the quality and cost structure of our products. An innovative frontrunner with an environmental mindset, Yingli is confident in its ability to lead the PV industry and greatly impact the future of the world.

As technology has advanced, so have we made great strides in every aspect of our production, including ingot weight, wafer thickness, wire diameter and cell conversion efficiency.
