YINGLI CUP 2012 – FC Bayern München meets China
In July 2012, Yingli Green Energy welcomed the official FC Bayern München team in China for the YINGLI CUP 2012. The YINGLI CUP is a friendly match between FC Bayern München, one of the most successful clubs in the world and Beijing Guoan, one of the most popular clubs in China.
With the announcement of the YINGLI CUP in China, Yingli marked yet another first in football and renewable energy history. Additionally, the YINGLI CUP is the very first football match in China hosted by a Chinese renewable energy company.
Mr. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Chairman of the Executive Board of FC Bayern München said during the press conference before the match in Beijing, "I would like to sincerely thank Yingli for the opportunity to come to China. Yingli Green Energy Supports FC Bayern München Youth Cup 2012
The FC Bayern München Youth Cup 2012 is an international competition for talented young footballers from various countries and diverse social backgrounds. The charity initiative gives children aged 14 to 16 the opportunity to experience football at an international level. Through the Youth Cup, many young football players get to experience the values of sport, such as community and solidarity.
Yingli Green Energy and the Chinese Football Association (CFA) have teamed up to support the FC Bayern München Youth Cup 2012. This initiative allows young Chinese football players to participate in the competition.
The selection of the All-Star team took place in Tianjin (Northern China) and Hainan (Southern China) at the end of March, 2012. An All-Star team of the best young football talents of five Chinese cities were selected to travel to Germany to represent their country at the finals of the FC Bayern München Youth Cup.
The final of the FC Bayern München Youth Cup took place at the Allianz Arena on the 24th of May. Five teams of youths aged 14 to 16 put on a thrilling show for the sun-drenched crowd of around 800, comprised mainly of school children. The eight-a-side teams all played each other once in a 20-minute match. By the end, Italy just edged out Austria on goal difference, with China, Germany and India filling the places from third to fifth.
