Solar Panel Manufacturing

As the world’s largest solar panel manufacturer, we have production facilities throughout China, including in Baoding, Haikou, Tianjin, and Hengshui. Our solar panel manufacturing process is defined by world-class technology, high quality workmanship, and an expansive global supply chain. We utilize industry-leading equipment from Europe, the U.S., Taiwan, and Japan; employ hundreds of thousands of workers both upstream and downstream in the solar energy industry; and stand behind our commitment to quality.

Production Expansion

In addition to our main manufacturing campus at the Company’s headquarters in Baoding, located in China’s Hebei Province, we also operate the following:

Hainan Manufacturing Campus

Hainan Yingli New Energy Resources Co., Ltd was founded in September 2009 in order to expand our manufacturing capabilities. In July 2010, Hainan Yingli completed construction of its Phase 1 manufacturing facility, located in Haikou City, in the Hainan Province of China. With an annual production capacity of 400 MW, the facility covers the entire PV value chain from ingot casting and wafering, to solar cell production and module assembly.

Tianjin Manufacturing Facility

Yingli Green Energy founded Tianjin Yingli New Energy Resources Co., Ltd. in March, 2011 in Binhai Technology Park, located in the High-Tech Zone of Tianjin. The facility covers ingot casting, wafering, solar cell, module assembly and application system. Currently, the total production capacity is 300 MW.

Hengshui Manufacturing Facility

Hengshui Yingli New Energy Resources Co., Ltd. is located in Hengshui Economic Development Zone, Hebei Province of China. Currently, the total capacity is 150 MW. The facility covers ingot casting and wafering, to solar cell production and module assembly.

Fine Silicon Facility

Fine Silicon Co., Ltd., our in-house polysilicon plant, began commercial production of high-quality solar-grade and electronic-grade polysilicon in August 2010. The Baoding-based factory’s advanced monosilane-based technology and closed-loop manufacturing process enable significant energy savings and a low environmental impact compared with traditional tricholorosilane (TCS)-based polysilicon technology. Fine Silicon Co., Ltd. currently has a designed annual production capacity of 3,000 MT.

Vertical Integration

We are the world’s largest manufacturer of silicon solar panels from "sand to sun." That means we control the entire manufacturing process, from polysilicon to wafers and from solar cell production to solar panel assembly. Highly automated production of ingots, wafers, solar cells and panels ensures tight control of our materials and production quality.

Benefits of vertical integration include:

  • Strict quality control measures at all stages of the manufacturing process
  • Elimination of redundancies
  • Reduced carbon emissions
  • Continuous process and cost optimization along the PV value chain

Research & Development Labs

PV Testing Lab (PVTL), San Francisco

To support our quickly growing U.S. presence, Yingli opened a research and development facility in South San Francisco in 2011. The PVTL is used for comprehensive product testing, including PV module characterization, reliability and outdoor performance testing, balance-of-system evaluations, system modeling, PAN files, and more. Our sophisticated testing equipment even includes a world-class .h.a.l.m. Class III Flash Tester with temperature control unit. The PVTL allows Yingli to more quickly evaluate new technologies and provide customers with sophisticated system modeling support.

Yingli Solar Photovoltaic Research, Development, and After-Sales Center, Madrid

In October 2011, Yingli Green Energy opened the photovoltaic industry’s largest R&D and after-sales service center, which is located in Madrid, Spain. As the only solar PV manufacturer to establish its own comprehensive product evaluation, testing, and service facility in Europe, Yingli Green Energy delivers enhanced client service to European customers through every stage of the project lifecycle.

Solar Panel Recycling

Yingli Solar panels are well within regulatory requirements for toxicity based on Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) testing and are not considered hazardous waste. It is also possible to recycle our solar panels. In Europe, we currently work with PV CYCLE to manage the return and recycling of solar panels and we are committed to recycling retired solar panels.
